Firewall GPO

By sklemis ·
Hello All
I have my Dc running quite well now
i have had a few teething problems with the remote desktop and now my dameware mini remote program.

I cannot connect to the client machines to view desktops, i have opened port xxxx that is uses for comms but it also uses file and print sharing for comms also.

I have enabled this is

Computer Policy > Admin Templates > Network Connections > Windows Firewall > Allow File and printer sharing.

When i log onto the client machine the option for file and print share is still grayed out under exceptions.

This is driving me mad.

I have tested the connection in a OU that blocks inheritance from above and it works fine..
Help Please

Was the Firewall GP already applied?

If you turned on the Firewall with GP and then later decided that you wanted file and print sharing, try removing the Firewall GP and the the current F&P Sharing GP. Then confirm that it was removed. Try then to re-apply the whole thing via one GP and see if it solves the problem.

We had similar issues and the original GP for the firewall was stopping us from opening up exceptions with another GP for file sharing.

That the object still had the old setting, not the new one?
