Firewire Install Error

By mbiat33 ·
Have tried to install several different IEEE 1394 cards on Dell Dimension 8200,XP pro. Tried different slots, updated BIOS to A09 as suggested from Belkin tech support-same result-recognizes card, continues through install then at the end error-driver not supported by this platform. Please help. I apologize if this has been previously addressed.

Although this is obviously an OS problem and not the hardwre, have you tried contacting the card manufacturer to see if they've resolved this issue before?

This is of course if your sys and BIOS are up to date and the OS supports IEEE1394.

BIOS version was updated to A09 per suggestion from Belkin tech support and all updates to Windows XP have been installed. No conflicts appear to show up. Dell says they only recommend SIIG cards. Thanks for responding.

It might sound stupid, but I had a similar problem with network cards and solved it with other drivers. I looked for other cards with the same chips as mine and thied their drivers till one of them worked. I did it again with a plotter months later.
