if it is known good floppy drive and cable (check on another pc if possible) maybe cable is on backwards or off by a pin. any damage to the pins on the mobo? (tell tail symptom of reversed cable is light on floppy drive never goes out...) also checkbios setting to make sure it is set to 1.4 (this might not apply to your mobo)

This issue can be caused by any of the following possibilities:

Floppy cable not connected properly
Bad floppy cable
Bad Floppy drive - I/O

Solutions:

Floppy cable not connected properly - Verify that the floppy disk drive cable is properly connected.

If the floppy disk drive light stays on and does not shut off, the cable is connected backwards.

Bad floppy cable - If the floppy disk drive appears to be setup properly an the light is not always on it is possible that the floppy drive cable may be bad. Try exchanging it with a new or known good one.

Bad Floppy drive - I/O - If the issue persists unfortunately it is likely that either the floppy drive is bad or the I/O board or Motherboard is bad. Contact the computer manufacturer, have the computer serviced or (if you're comfortable working on your system) replace the floppy drive then the motherboard if the issue persists.

Good luck...hope this helps!

I noticed in the other replys to your question that they told you that your cable may be turned backward. On your floppy drive cable, there is usually a solid red line or dotted line on one side of the cable. Make sure that this line goes to the number #1 pin on both the floppy drive and the motherboard. If you need more information, email me. Will help all that I can.
