Folder Read Only Problem

By toughguy000 ·
Currently working on a Windows 2003 server. There have been no issues with this server so far, but today we found out a new Team login account was unable to save to a folder. The error message was "Can not save 'Filename' Folder is read only"

After looking into effective permissions the user has access to that folder, R/W.

Looking at the file it is not read only, the folder however has a grayed out checked "Read only". Logging onto another user of the same group with the exact same permissions (Except a few more drive mappings) the user was able to save the file to that folder. Checking the folder again it still has the grayed out checkmark in the folder.

After "Un-checking" the folder it reverts back to it's standard state of being checked, The entire drive is checked as "Read Only" but no other problems except these group of 12 team logins.

Check Share Permissions

Check whether the users that are supposed to have the right to make changes, create files and folders have "Full Control" permissions to the share.
