Force uninstall?

By Jayz ·
Hi

I have Symantec WinFax installed, but it has somehow corrupted. I was to uninstall but it gives an error saying its missing a file. I sourced this file from a different pc, but it still wont uninstall. I tried to do a fresh install, but it says I must first uninstall the current installation.

Now I'm stuck.

Is there any way I can "force uninstall" this software?

Thanks

Jay

What operating system are you using?
If you are using win2k or XP try looking in the event viewer for any error messages.
1 - Start > Settings > Control Panel > Admin Tools > Event Viewer.
look under software for any errors.
2 - Secondly login as the PC administrator not a user if Win2k or XP and try uninstall.
3 - Stop the Symantec WinFax service from Start > Settings > Control Panel > Admin Tools >services and then try uninstalling.

Also try cutting and pasting the following url.

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/faxprod.nsf/pfdocs/1999070113200804

or read the following thread from a newsgroup.

Welcome to the world of symantec.Well if you have a PC running Winfax .. you need to take note the file that is looking for when you un-install. Copy the file from the other computer and paste the file on the computer you are trying to uninstall then try to to run unistall.

|Good Luck
