By Mikael310 ·
How can I format an NTFS hard drive on a laptop? I want to wipe out my HDD and start with a clean install and clean disk.

If with WinXP, then go to your computer BIOS (Press F2 to enter setup -- or whatever your system requires) and set the boot order to set your boot to the cd-rom drive first. Then insert the WinXP cd and it will identify the current setup and ask you if you want to format (or quick format then)... either way it'll get you a clean install.

With Win2000, you create boot disks and follow the prompts.

If you want to install another OS, then post a comment to your original question and we'llhave more specifics for you.
