Formating hard drive

All right, here we go. There are two different ways to do this. I am going to roughly tell you how to do it here, and at the very end I am going to give you a website to go to. One way to do it, is to go out to good ol' DOS. Yeah I know, but there is a way, but it isn't easy. What you have to do is make a dos startup disk. Here is what you do, format a floppy, go to my computer and right-click the floppy drive. Click format, click Create a MS-DOS startup disk and hit start. You may then want to add the "format", diskpart", "defrag", and "chkdsk" commands from your windows/system32 directory. This disk will allow you to boot into dos (providing you set your bios to boot from a floppy).
There is also a a way to do it through Disk Management, although I don't know if it will let you format the working drive, this way may only work on a second drive.

There is a way to do it from XP.

Go to install xp options, then delete partitions, then format partition and everything will
install automatically. No boot disks needed.
Enjoy.

I think everyone is forgetting the keyword here --> FDISK. We don't know if he had installed NT on his system before..and formatted the disk with NTFS. Certainly, using a WIN98 bootdisk will not see the NTFS cause its on a FAT32 file system. So, FDISK first. Create Logical drive. Then format.
But other than that, everyone who answered your question previously are correct.
