FREE INTERNET

Sorry Nate,

Those days are gone.
All of the firms that offered free access have gone to either a 10 hour / month limit, or $10 per month.

When I saw the righting on the wall last year with netzero, I searched out a low cost local provider. Inow pay $8.88/month for 8 hours / day.
One advantage, without the add overhead, pages load a lot faster, and downloads take 1/2 the time.

The only other option might be to work out a deal with a local provider for tech support.
Some colleggesalso offer connections for students.

As the others had mentioned, free access is gone. That said, there are some deals out there. Check At&T. They had, and just a few months back, a basic account with 150 hours per month for $5 per month. Careful searching and checking will turn up some real bargains.
Good Luck.

I can highly recommend juno.com as a free ISP. I have used their service for about 7 years. The email is full featured and there are several local access phone numbers available in most areas. I live in a fairly large city and rarely have trouble logging on due to high traffic. As with most free internet services, there is an advertising banner that remains visible as long as you are online. They offer a bannerless service for $9.95 a month. They have recently merged with netzero.net to form unitedonline.com.
