I have a Windows 95 workstation that I want to manage remotely from an XP workstation via modems on each end. The managing workstation is currently running pcAnywhere with NT. I am replacing the NT workstation with the XP, and the pcAnywhere version from the NT will not run on XP. I don’t have a LAN connection to the 95 workstation; only the modem. Due to some specific software running on the 95 machine, I’d prefer to not upgrade it at this time. What I’d like to do is avoid the expense of upgrading pcAnywhere. Is there a freeware, or “cheap” alternative? Everything that I’ve seen looks like it only works via I.P. and not modems – that won’t work in this situation! Also, again, I need something that’s compatible with both Windows 95 and XP.
