One possible solution, try updatng your Bios. Here's a link to Abit motherboard page.
http://www.abit.com.tw/abitweb/webjsp/english/products.jsp
Locate your model then go to Bios updates. Up toward the top there is one for supporting a 1.4ghz processor. Hope this helps.

Beyond the BIOS revision;

1. Make sure that the RAM clock is set to CPU clock when using 133MHz as the CPU FSB. If the RAM clock is set to CPU + PCI, you are over-clocking your RAM.

2. What OS are you running? The change to the 1.4GHz CPU may have pushed your configuration over the edge for W98/Me.
If you are running 98/Me, reduce your RAM to below 511MB, and try again.

There are also a few "BETA" BIOS's out there for the KT7 series. Check out www.biosmods.com

A 3rd party support site for the KT7 boards is at www.viahardware.com/faq/kt7/kt7faq

The postings there helped me with a couple of problems I had with a KT7A MB.

It could be your Power Supply
Soemthings it is hard to detect but if it keeps locking up it might be the problem.

Are you using a new Athlon XP with Quantispeed??....These 1.4 chips are 'PR rated' at 1.4 Gig....i.e. they perform equivalent to a Pentium at 1.4GHz, but run at lower frequencies....www.amd.com
