Frontpg.exe error:Default/Homepage files

By jerilyn1 ·
FrontPage 2000,IIS4,NT4 System:
Got hit by the Nimda virus a few weeks ago. Downloaded the fix and everything was running well. Now I'm having trouble with FrontPage errors. Can't open a default.htm or homepage file on the web site with FrontPage 2000. Get Frontpg.exe error and the FP program closes. All other files open OK. Strangely, I'm able to open the default and home page files from my home PC and edit them! I use a cable modem from home.

Frontpg.exe error:Default/Homepage files

Ok, I an guessing you like to edit your page directly off the server (which is what I like to do).

I know I open my page in IE, and click on the FP Icon and enter my User Name and Password and it opens the page. If you are doing the same, it should allow you to edit the file. If not try this:
1.Uninstall FP Extentions
2.Delete your web pages from the web server
3.Reinstall FP Extentions
4.Republish the files using your home PC.

What it sounds like is your extentions may have been messed up. Reinstalling them usually fixes the problem.

This sounds like it could be a Web problem or software problem. I guess since FP is generating errors it could be FP also. If you try and reinstall FP Extentions and it don't work try reinstalling FrontPage, because something is miscommunicating with FP causing it to error out.

Good Luck
