I am trying to transfer all 5 FSMO roles from an old 2000 DC to a new 2003 DC. I had the old DC shut off for more than 60 days (tombstone drop dead date, so replication is not happening) before realizing I needed to transfer roles. (This is a small single server network.)
I turned the old DC back on. The problem is it tells me the current Operations Master is “offline” and this is the DC I’m trying to do the transfer from, so it’s obviously NOT offline.
How can this be resolved? Or should I just do a seize of all 5 roles instead and forget trying to do a transfer?
