FTP - Active or Passive

By saileshdavey007 ·

I recently changed my web hosting servers and have a FTP that supports ascii(active) connections for listing files and transfers... of late been having lots of issues with corrupt zip files and also been experiencing a broken internet connection.

Would the reason for corrupt zip files be the configuration of the FTP server or my broken internet connection? any help would be appreciated . Thanks.

Zip files are binary files, and if your FTP server only supports ascii (text) files, then binary files would get corrupted.

Active or passive FTP method is not related to ascii versus binary, as you can transfer ascii or binary files using either method.
