FTP....Something Wrong???

By ccthompson ·
FTP Site
I have an FTP site that works good as long as all the users connecting to it has passive FTP turned off. I dont know why that is but thats not the main problem.

The main problem is that alot of the users who connect, go into the pictures folder, and when the try to open a picture it gives"Page cannot be displayed".

Now the tricky part is that it has never happend to me, it has happend to the CEO and a couple other people that I personally walked through the steps to get there ect... Other people also have had no trouble.

I have the FTP site setup with anonymous access with read as primary permission. I also setup the permissions on the actual folder through windows server as read with the ISUR_OEM user also.

So I dont know if I got something wrong in IIS or on the folder permissions or whats up.

Please Help! Thanks in advance

Make sure that Anonymous internet account IUSR_MACHINENAME also has access rights in the local security policy of the Windows server. Generally, this is not granted by default.

That didnt seem to work, IUSR_OEM has "Read" to both the folder and is the anonymous access account inside IIS. I also have the correct ports forworded to the correct server.

Do I need to setup a dummy account instead of IUSR_OEM?

Thanks!

Hi,

Do you have a firewall in place? FTP passive transfers on/off is allways an issue with firewalls.

If you have domain access, then I'd recommend that you turn off anonymous access and grant access based on users/groups. This way you have greater control on what is being accessed and how.

Good Luck.
