Hi. I’m trying to set up DNS server on Sun system running Solaris 2.6. To compile BIND, I need to install gcc. I got gcc-2.8.1 from Sun freeware site in .gz format. When I try to unzip it with gunzip, I get an error message that says “invalid compressed data–format violated.” Then I tried unzipping gcc-2.8.1.gz on my PC running Win95 using Winzip, sent it to my sun machine and tried installing it on Sun using pkgadd -d. Then I got an error message that it had “bad magic number/header” andthe installation process terminates. Can anyone help to resolve this problem?????
