Getting MMSYSTEM007 error playing midi

By stiell ·
I am running Windows 98 se with 256mb memory and an AMD 1.4 ghz Athlon. ABIT KG7 raid motherboard and a Videologic Sonic Storm sound card with the latest drivers.

Every time I try to play a MIDI file I get the following error:- MMSYSTEM007: Notenough memory.
This occurs in both Winamp and Media player.

I have tried all suggestions in the Microsoft Knowledgebase to no avail.

Thanks in advance for any help.

According to MS
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q178677

Errors like this are casued by missing or damaged files.

The web page above does not list your problem exactly but it sounds like it is related and well worth a try.

Good luck.

If you haven't already done so; install all the updates for you motherboard. Make sure your using the most current version of their BIOS the drivers(http://www.abit.com.tw). You may want to check the abit forums to see if other people are having simular problems.
