Hi – i have a 3 yr old system which i put together myself

for the last few months when i start the PC the GPU fans run flat out and the screen goes black. if i switch it off and back on again, eventually it boots normally but it can take a few goes and is gradually getting worse. if i leave it, i THINK it does actually boot to windows but obviously i cant see it.

    main specs are

    asus rog strix z390-e
    i9 9900
    evga rtx 2080ti xc 11g
    2 x 16g vengeance ddr4 3000
    win 10 pro 64

    really appreciate any help please

This could very well be an issue with the video card. Try another one.

Firstly, remove the card, check it for any visible signs of damage, in particular any discolouration that might indicate overheating. Make sure the fan spins freely, and there is no accumulation of dust or debris. Clean as required. If it looks OK, reinstall it, making sure it is properly seated in the socket.
