I recently added a 2003 server to a domain to act as a backup for a 2000 server that I fear might be failing. I also added 60 new workstations running XP. I followed protocol in adding the 2003 server and the AD was replicated from the 2000 server to the 2003 server and they seem to be communicating. The workstations log in to the domain but they get the group policies only occaisionally. I find that if I go to a workstation that hasn’t received the polices and log off then log back in, the group policies are applied. Would I be better off by removing the 2000 server from the domain so that the w/s always look at the 2003 for their policies? I know about the differences in 2000/xp policies. That isn’t the issue. Rather the policies are simply not being applied when the user logs in the 1st time each day.
