Question

Locked

Group Policy Object

By kevinr ·
I have just installed an SBS 2003 server and the default policy for automatically locking users computers is too short. Where in the GPO editor is the item to change? Many thanks in advance.

Under the GPO that handles authentication for your account (Default Domain Policy) you will need to browse to the following.

-Computer Configuration
-Windows Settings
-Security Settings
-Account Policies
-Account Lock-out Policy

You will need to adjust the Account Lockout threshold (logon attempts), Account Lockout duration (time end user is locked out), reset counter (used to reset lock counter)

Hope that helps you.

Lock PC not account lockout

by kevinr In reply to RE:

Hi Jon, thank you for taking the time to reply but I may have mislead you. I joined 15 PC's to a domain and since joining, users are complaining that the "this computer has been locked" screen appears too frequently. Basically, the PC's are locking the screens after a short time which I know is there for a very good reason but can I adjust the time limit? Thanks again.

Does the computer enter into a screen saver when the system locks out. How much time passes without inactivity before the lock goes into effect.
