Has anyone been able to apply proxy settings to ie7 via group policy? I have tried all means but cannot for the life of me get it to apply.
Cheers

GPO Proxy Issue - SOLVED

by nickganga In reply to Group Policy Proxy Settin ...

SOLVED!
So, like many people here, I have been fighting with this issue for a long time and I FINALLY found a solution.

Internet Explorer 7 no longer supports the Gopher and as a result, these Proxy Settings must be removed from the GPO otherwise IE will not apply the settings.

Straight from the mouth of the beast: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968847#top

"Internet Explorer 7 does not support the Gopher protocol. For this problem to occur, the Gopher protocol would have to have been set in older Group Policies or from an earlier version of Internet Explorer before Internet Explorer 7 was installed."

and

"Remove the value for the Gopher proxy server specified in the Group Policy. "

THIS WORKS! FINALLY A SOLUTION.
