Groupwise security gone wrong.

By Crion ·
We are using groupwise 5.2 in a Netware 5.1 environment. When one of our employees e-mailed another internal employee they recieved an error message teling them the the mail was unable to be delivered. She tried again and got the same message but when she clicked through the message this time she ended up with all the 2nd employees emails in her inbox. On top of that he had recieved the 2 e-mails she had sent him after all.

it sounds like the user's databases have been hosed.. you might want to run the GWADMIN util and check all the user databses.. was this a upgrade from GW4.1?

Sounds like you need to run GWCHECK (Included on gw cd or downloadable from Novell)

Choose ANalyze/Fix databases
Check:
Structure
Index check
Fix problems

State the path to PO
Give the PO's name
and then click RUN

note..
1. you should run this weekly to keep problems from growing and also to reclaim space on your server. The Index check is optional on weekly checks(takes longer)

2. This should be ran on a quiet system for best performance, but can be ran with users logged in. I have to run it during the time of less usage because someone is always logged into our system.

3. besure to read the help files because other options can hurt you if not used properly.

You may want to run a Groupwise Top/Down Rebuild. See Novell TID #2929412. Not as difficult as it sounds.

Just a suggestion that 5.5 is a better place to be in GroupWise than 5.2
