GSNW (NT) to NW4.11 svr from MAC OSx (Panther)
Sound convoluted enough yet? Well hears the thing. We recently replaced all the MACs including OSx. With no NWClient for them, I was forced to put in a Windows NT svr to act as a gateway running Gateway Services for NetWare. The old server has a dumping ground share that is a must have for these users, but just makes no sense to replace, or spend any money on. The gateway works great EXCEPT when trying to access \\svr\vol\shared. They can access \\scr\vol\shared\mac, or files on \\svr\vol\ etc. just not \\scr\vol\shared. They connect, the volume mounts (on mac desktop). When they try to open it, it just spins.
So, it is NOT a volume problem. They can interact with files on the same volume fine (\\svr\vol\file.txt, or \\svr\vol\share\mac\file.txt). Not a rights problem, I can connect to the \\svr\vol\shared from a XP box running IP only through the GW.
Any thoughts would be helpful
If the question seems a bit messed up, ask for detail.
