HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE PROBLEMS?

By Adriano.herberth ·
1. I had an ADAPTEC AHA-1542CF ISA, i tried to connect my HP CD-WRITER 6020 and got "BIOS NOT INSTALLED, NOT DEVICE INT13h" error message after POST even finding my HP;
2. Now i replaced de card to NCR 53c810 PCI with a SCSI connector and i can seedrive E: BUT I CAN?T READ IT. Is it some kind of missed configuration with these adapters os it is hardware incompatibility?

HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE PROBLEMS?

It sounds like your bios may be configured wrong I would suggest writing down your bios configuration so you can set it up the same way you had it then get into the bios and set everything to the default settings that may fix the card not working right I think it is just the settings either in the bios setup or if there are any settings on the card itself ? I am just trying to help I hope it does Just be sure to copy down your settings before you change anything .

most likely it will have to do with your plug and play settings in the bios or you may have an IRQ conflict with the card setup I really need to know a bit more info on your computer type of motherboard the bios number etc.

Quite often this sort of error is caused by missing, corrupt or old version WINAspi drivers. Make sure you have the most current Aspi drivers loaded for your OS, or you won't be able to access certain types of media.

Some tips:
-check if you asign unique ID for devices attached to this controller.
-first ID "0" must be asigned to boot device (HDD)
-check termination of SCSI bus. At both ends of bus (first and last device)termination must be enabled (check documentation).
-check if your controller need to activate/deactivate in computer BIOS - enable/disable SCSI BIOS.
-enter in your SCSI BIOS and run diagnostics from here to see if devices are properly installed.

Definitely a sfotware problem. Go to the HP website and get and install the latest ASPI drivers from them.
