Hate that Pop-up's

By qtravi ·
Dear Fellow Tech-Brains ( Help )
I used win-XP operating sys, its running in top condition no trouble what so ever, recently I got this pop-up commercial popping up left and right on a timely manner.

this pop-up window says just Portal on the menu Bar, and I get all kinds of filthy and regular commercial. Since I have 2 daughter I am so scared of this Pop-up screen. Please tell me how do I get rid of this?
Thanks a ton
Ravi

Use the spyware detector, which can be downloaded from CNET,it will detect the software that is responsible for the popup

To guard against pop-up windows use a utility such as Pop-Up Window Killer or other free downloads

If using IE,open browser, click on Tools, select Internet Options, click on General Tab and select the button to use Default

Switch from IE to either Mozilla, or K-Meleon for a web browser.
Both have built in pop-up blocking.

Other pop-up blockers include:
www.adsubtract.com
www.cexx.org
www.ebsoft.freeserve.co.uk/dlorders.htm
www.southbaypc.com/noads/
www.popupstopper.net
www.ranfo.com/popki.html

Go to your IE temp folder and clear all files.
Look for the folder "Downloaded program files, and clear all , might helps..
Any installed programs lately? try uninstall the programs one by one and see whether it helps anot.
go to your IE options in the tools under the tab privacy and set all to defaults.
download Ad-aware from www.cnet.com and scan for any suspicious files and delete.
