We have a server that we want to run a heartbeat between the two nic’s onboard and we run each nic to a separate 3560 switch that are linked together as well. We are using the latest version of Red Hat. We have tried bonding the nics together which has worked but it sends the same mac out to both switches confusing them and therefore shutting one port down. is there a way to run the heartbeat between them but have them set up for one to take over the traffic if one nic fails and assume the ip address as well.
