I believe that you have a driver problem.

First, Identify the motherboard or the chipset on the motherboard.
Identify the graphics card, or graphics processor.

Download the correct driver files for both from either the board or chip manufactures web site.

Install in sequence:
The motherboard / chipset driver
DirectX (available from Microsoft)
The video card driver
The specific monitor driver (if needed)

If you need help identifying the motherboard.
Copy down the BIOS string that is near the bottom of the screen while the memory is testing.
Go to either www.motherboards.org
or www.wimsbios.com
Both have a database to identify who made the motherboard.
Or, you can expand the system branch in device manager, and there should be listings that will identify the chipset on the motherboard.
If all else fails, look at the motherboard. The 2 largest IC's on the board are the north and south bridge chips. Note the manufactures name, and the numbers on the IC.
You likelyhave an Intel, SiS, or VIA chipset.

For help finding the drivers for the video card, go to www.driverguide.com

If you just wiped and reinstalled Windows NT, your only problem is that your OS may not be setup for more colors just yet. I believe you must upugrade to at least Service Pack 3 on NT Workstation or server before the video drivers will recognize beyond the basics.

Do you still have the system disk that came with your system? Assuming you purchased the puter in question. If you do, slip it into the cup holder and click "setup". If you don't, then you have to do like the preceeding suggestion "the hard way".
