hi all. ok. i am at my wit’s end. I can’t seem to get my windows 2k server to stay connected. I host my website, connectingher.com, on it and it stays up for a few hours and then loses its connection to the internet. It is hosted in my basement on a fiber optic connection.
I know it’s not the connection because I reformatted the server and ran just the OS and a blank html page and that stayed up for days. I then moved my old code back onto the server and reinstalled sql server on it again and it stays up for a few hours and then drops again. Could I have some sort of bad virus or trojan on the server that is in my code? I have run AVG on the code and even used one of those over the web trojan detectors but it finds nothing.
Oh, and another wierd clue was this. When this server goes down, I don’t think I am able to access the internet using the same router using my laptop. Could it be that there’s a trojan in my server phoning home and flooding the router? I am a developer and not a security guy.
Any ideas? HELP!!
