home wireless network via USB card from Alltel

By waterd ·
I live in a rural area in South Central Missouri. I have to options for any high speed internet, satelite or USB card from Alltel. I have used satelitle for a couple of years and have a wireless network in my home. If I switch to receiving internet access via a USB card from Alltel, can I then attach the card to my desktop and share the connection to my laptops somehow?

Internet Connection Sharing

Yes, you can share the connection.

Open the Network setup tool and choose the option to share your Internet connection.

Keep in mind that the host computer with the network connection needs to be on in order for other computers on the network to use the connection.

I have seen a few routers that you can connect an aircard to and share the connection through the router.

Aircard Routers work great

by NoNothing In reply to home wireless network via ...

There are several out there now, but Cradlepoint seems to have the most selection, supporting the most AirCards.

Wirelesnwifi.com has the best service, selection, and pricing. http://www.wirelessnwifi.com/Cradlepoint

Once you plug the aircard into the router, each computer can operate independently of each other, you don't need to have the host computer on all the time.
