Nope

You cannot join an XP Home Pc to a domain. That does not mean that you cannot use domain resources with XP home. It just means that you will be prompted for a user name and password the first time you use the resource. (Like connecting to a share.) Be sure you provide the user name using the domain like domain\username or username@domain.

Create a vpn conenction from the Home machine to the Server make sure you select the options to use domain credentials on the vpn client and you should be fine.

XP home and 2003 domain

There is a workaround you can perform. First you have to match the workgroup name with the domain. Then you will match the username and password for the user. Keep in mind that the user will not be able to access shares on other XP pro machines without validating credentials.
