how do i run a stand alone python code to give me a gui interface.

i have been doing a self coaching in python ,however in my study their is a time the say run the program in the current directory.which is this current directory.
secondly the programs that have run actually run in the interpreter how do i get to the gui interface.

Windows or nix ?

Basically you have to interface to GUI components. So say IronPython you'd load up the relevant .net libraries. Nix, depends, widgets, X, GNome, K, etc.
