How to allow Subnets through Firewall

By martinbullock15 ·
Hi

We are having some work done which requires the external company to gain access to our system on 4 certain subnets on Port 1433 (SQL Server) and i was wondering how i can configure Windows Firewall to allow this?

Thanks in advance and if any further information is required please let me know.

Kind Regards

Martin

Are these PC's behind a hardware firewall, are these PC's that are on a AD network or a workgroup?

We need more info....

Unless you are using a Windows Server as your internet gateway we have to assume you have a hardware firewall of some sort, even if it on a SOHO-type router. I would highly suggest you bring someone onsite to assist, as your firewall is not really the best thing to make a mistake with.

That being said, I agree with Larry, we need to know what it acting as your internet gateway to assist any further.

Scott

Need to verify information

Hi Martin,
Couple of questions to verify what you're trying to do:
1. What server OS are you using? Windows Firewall configuration differs significantly between Server 2003 and Server 2008.
2. I'm assuming you have already created rules on your Internet-facing firewall to allow access into your network and your issue is gaining access to the SQL server. Is this correct?
3. Systems that will be used to access your SQL server will be coming from 4 external subnets. Is this correct?
