divisoin of database

It is possible to put the bulk of the database on a server and a front-end on each desktop, but I cannot remember off-hand how it's done, though I have done it myself.

MS Access Remotly

by amwade77 In reply to HOW TO CONNECT MS ACESS r ...

I currently have been using the Remote Desktop connection from my server to let key employees get to our database.NOT RECOMMENDED, but it works for now. The only issue is the server will only let 3 logins and the user has to know two major things. ( I find salesmen know nothing of servers!) OK #1 If they log in, they need to know to LOG OUT. Remeber only 3 connections.
#2 Very Important. They are not using their own computer at this point. They need to know NOT TO HIT SHUT DOWN!! That will make an Admin have to goto the office at 3am and restart your server!
I also find that if you make the desktop Red for the other users, this will help them know they are on the server.

This is NOT A SAFE METHOD, But it is working till a can figure out if the Hyperterminal or some sort of php interface that can talk to the database.

If you are NOT running a server, then just use something like and you can remotely connect from any internet connection. Then while on the host computer, just email your database results from there.
