reinstall your os is the only way to remove ie5.5 from windows.

I for one wouldn’t try removing it, I have seen where OS will not reboot after reinstalling a lower IE version. Reinstalling Windows is best way. IE 5.0 has a few problems I have found. My PC would lock up at some sites, requiring reboot. 5.5 has seemed to fix some of this. MS Techs couldn’t even figure this one out. By luck once I redid PC with 4.0 site worked great, then 5.0 it locked solid.
