What version of Windows did you use to Format the HDD?

How did you attempt to format the Flash Drive here?

Did you open the Drive Manager and go in that way to Format the Drive? If not try doing it that way.

Of course if this is one of those Flash Drives with Software to Compress the Data on it you have to visit the Flash Drive Makers Web Site and download their Formatting Tool.

Also make sure that you format this unit as a FAT32 Partition.

How to Repair a USB Flash Drive

These steps are for Windows. Steps for other OSs should be similar.

1) Insert the flash drive into a USB port on your computer. If it is detected, it should show up in your "My Computer" after a couple of seconds.

2) Try right clicking on the USB drive icon and then left click on format. Most important of all, Select "fat32" (without the quotes) for windows operating systems beyond 98. Click "start" and formatting should begin. Note: Formatting will erase everything on the device.

3) Try testing the USB drive again as before.

Hope all goes well.
