How to locate an Unknown IP address

By DouglasB ·
I have an IP camera that I installed some time ago and assigned an IP address to it. Over the months I lost the address and now can't open the camera. Is there a utility/program I can use to locate all the IP addresses on my network to try and locate the camera? Thanks.

Well you can either:
A. Start pinging address on your network (Start>Run>cmd press enter, then ping 192.168.1.x or whatever your network address may be)
or B. You could try WinFingerprint, it is free and you can put in a range of IP's to ping for you, the one you get a response on could be the camaera, depending on how many machines you have on the network.

This worked, tracked down the "missing" ip of the camera. It's working again, thanks!

Like Enrique, I have used SuperScan.

You can download it from http://www.foundstone.com - Resources - Free Tools - Scanning Tools - SuperScan

Download the demo of LANsurveyor:
http://www.neon.com/map.shtml

It provides a great layout of your systems by their name and IP. Within a few minutes you should be able to find the camera!
