How to open a restricted network.

    by thornbrowny683 ·

, would really appreciate some help if anyone knows.

I have a work network that is locked down to prevent viewing inappropriate material. My network administrator is willing to open up the network to allow us to install gaming PCs but, I have no idea where the games are targeting their traffic. I think I need to find out where the packets are being transmitted to when joining an online lobby but I have no idea how to do this. I suspect i need to find out the IP destination and port they are using.

All the games i have tested allow me to enter the game launcher (eg epic games launcher), load into the actual game (eg rocket league pre game lobby) but kicks me out when connecting to an online games (eg rocket league match).

Any advice would be very much appreciated

Your question how to open it, is easy to answer: you ask permission from the one who restricts it. Their logging might be able to tell what it is.
Or use the log of your modem/router if it has one, but most consumer grade devices don’t have it. Professional security equipment might have.

Sounds like what a VPN would be good for.

I see Kees has great answers so I’ll add that a VPN would be my workaround.

Use a VPN. The most popular way of accessing blocked internet sites is to use a high-quality paid Virtual Private Network (VPN).
      Use a Smart DNS.
      Use a Free Proxy.
      Use a Site’s IP Address.
      Use Tor.
