How to recover data from formatted drive?

By matte4 ·
On my file server I have a raid 1 with the second drive an exact duplicate of the first drive. Today i got a new pc to use as a file server and was moving everything to the new server. I installed both drives and went into the raid configuration manager to setup the raid. Once i had everything the way i wanted it i saved and exited.

Every other time i have set up a raid the mirror drive has been formatted then rebuilt from the source drive. This time both drives were deleted and i have lost everything.

I have some recovery software that i am running to recover the data from the raw drive but everything is coming out with the name file1.***, file2.***, etc. Does anyone know any good software that will recover the files with the original file information and directories? Or is there anyway i could rebuild the file system information from the raw drive?

Thanks for any help!!!

Is there still an unformat command for your OS? Not sure if it matters if it is RAID or not.

Don't know about reputation at all, but there is this as well, which specifically mentions RAI

Highly reputable, but I don't know if it specifically supports RAID, or if that matters:
