how to stop back ground downloads in my pc?

though i have turned off automatic updates and i am not downloading anything itz getting downloaded automatically.i have only 1GB downloads and anything more than that will be charged.

Two thoughts:

In addition to Windows update, there is the Background Intelligent Transfer Service, which updates other Micorosoft Apps.... stop that service.

Other applications, such as your AntiVirus, any Adobe product, your JAVA VM, and even your video card drivers may be checking for updates. YOu would need to track these down and shut them off.

Hi I have installed Zone alarm and set it to ask for permission from any applications requesting access to the internet. This can help find the source. You can also use this to deny the application access to updates if your unable to disable it. (There is an automatic updates Service in XP, you may want to set that to disabled as well as the items from the other posts.
