HP CD Writer 8200 series and sound probl

I installed an HP CD-Writer Plus 8200 series USB drive. After installation I noticed I lost my sound from my speakers. I checked the sound card device and sound volumes from the control panel of WIN 98 se – and all is OK. I turn the speakers on and off and I hear some static. Win 98 states the sound card is working properly and their are no IRQ conflicts. Please help me get my sound back.

you’ll probally have to uninstall and reinstall your sound card drivers. if you totally uninstall and cold boot, windows should detect new hardware. Let it default to whatever windows settings it likes
