Humming in loudspeakers

I have a Dell PC with a pair of Insignia loudspeakers attached. Sometimes the speakers start humming with a sound reminiscent of positive feedback in a public-address system. If I switch the speakers off and wait overnight, the sound has gone in the morning. If I wait only a short time, the sound returns. Should I buy a new pair of speakers or is there some adjustment I can make in the PC? I have no microphone attached. In the Settings panel I can test with what seems like an ordinary sound resulting.
