    i am unable to ping the server ip address in my xp systen

    I have a server 2003 with 20 xp clients, i configured ad dns dhcp in one system i gave 192.168.1.200 to my server, when i ping the domain name in my server pc its giving the following ip 202.160.40.1, from the xp systems when i try to ping its giveing request time out

      If your server is using the DNS of your ISP it will always respond with the IP address for yourdomainname.com with what the ISP’s DNS server says. So I am assuming that your gateway is using 202.160.40.1 on the pbulic side.

      If your hosting your own DNS internally and you want yourdomainname.com to resolve internally with your local IP address for the server you need to add a host record for say www in your DNS server.
