I can't search

By ormunoz ·
Recently i recieved a call from a user that has left me baffled. When the user goes to Start > Find > Files or Folders absolutely nothing happens. Yet if he goes to explorer and click on the search on the toolbar it works. If someone knows why and have a solution please let me know.

Registry corruption is the first thing that comes to mind. If you can restore to a date prior to this starting to happen, it may resolve it. To your knowledge, was anything installed recently? Possible conflicts. The possiblilties are endless for issues like this but above is a good place to start.

Type sfc on Start - Run... to check the system files. If still cannot, delete the c:\windows\win.com and reinstall the O.S.

Don't worry everything will back to normal including a dirt :)

Only apply to Windows 9X

goto a dos prompt and run scanreg, and select a date prior to this happening, make sure you backup the registry before hand. Also you can try running regclean ( download it from download.com) and see if that helps?
