I need a primer on AGP!

Where can I find a good on-line guide to AGP? Pictures prefered.

I am an old guy (32, ancient) and these new-fangled ports and stuff confuse me.

AGP is good, but there are many things to consider when it comes to performance. Here are a couple of links to check out:

AGP stands for Advanced Graphics Port, there are two types of AGP cards. One uses MEMORY TEXTURING (sidebanding) and one doesn’t. IT uses memory from the system board when the program call for it since ram is cheaper than video ram. This is also a bit slower than using video ram.

is AGP faster than PCI? No, not much the advantage is that if frees up a PCI slot and makes use of 3D memory texturing (used mostly in 3d games)AGP doesn’t enhance

The latest card out is VOODOO 5 which is supposed to have its own power supply.

AGP may not be too popular for long giving the fact that some people can’t afford or don’t want to use expand the ram in their systems just for games. Word has it that some companies might enable their systems to handle two AGP boards at a time.
