By Jacky Howe ·
to park my Avatar without having to buy a suscription. Apparently I've exceeded the bandwidth on photobucket.

I really don't know

I have 6 photos up there and the only one linked to is my Avatar. I've been with them for quite awhile now and they are suggesting that I pay for the service. I did think that I could just use SkyDrive but it didn't work.

That's really odd.

I guess there are just loads of people reading your posts. Good on them. B-)

There are several other image hosting sites that I can't think of at the moment. The only two I came across recently were for Twitter.

Today on TechRepublic and select number 2 and then right click where my Avatar is you can save the image and check it out.

I think

I may have already saved that one.
I collect some of the more interesting avatars and other images I run across.

So anyway, I was wondering about the Brick Wall jpg, so I looked at TR's offerings again. Holy Smoke - when did they add all those new ones?

I don't know when they added them

by Jacky Howe In reply to I think

but that's what I thought that I might be up against.

What is Bandwidth?

Bandwidth is used when digital content is viewed from a link you posted on another website or sent in an email (e.g., MySpace, eBay, message boards, etc.). Bandwidth is a measure of the number of bytes passed over time via direct linking. It is calculated by adding up the size of each of your images or videos as they are sent from Photobucket. The ?Monthly Bandwidth" number is the amount of bandwidth you have used within the last month. The month is determined by the day of the month you registered your account.

Example: You have various images of 25K each in size that are viewed by 100 users on your favorite message board in one day. 25K * 100 requests = 2500K (or 2.5MB) of bandwidth used in one day.

Every free account with Photobucket is allotted 25 GB of monthly bandwidth and our records show that you have less than 5 GB of bandwidth left to your account.

You have exceeded the 10 GB monthly bandwidth limit on your free Photobucket account. I'm not quite sure what this means. I wonder if it's 25GB or 10GB. I can see where they are coming from as my Avatar is 139KB.

Edit: missed a bit

Upgrading isn't mandatory, but if you exceed the free allotted bandwidth
remaining for your account, your files will be temporarily disabled and
replaced with a "Photobucket Bandwidth Exceeded" icon for the remainder
of the month's cycle.

I can live with that. But wouldn't it be good if we were able to park them here.

I hadn't read the FAQ

by seanferd In reply to LOL should have checked o ...

but that is basically what I assumed had happened. Hence:

See, you just have an awful lot of people reading your copious posts. And if you use the same avatar elsewhere...

I only use the Avatar

on here so it must have been a few hits from this site. I still think that it would be a good idea if TR allowed us to park them on here.
