I want to remove the hiberfil.sys file in windows 7

By ssaulino ·
After following the recommended instructions on removing the hiberfil.sys file or simply turning it off/on ala
c:\powercfg.exe -h off I recieve this message.
You do not have permmision to enable or disable the hibernate feature.

I have also made sure that I am admin on my computer and there is only one other account that is a guest account.

Can anyone help with this?
Thanks in advance

Hi ssaulino,

From your posting, I understand that you are having trouble removing the hiberfil.sys file in Windows 7. Below are some simple steps for the same.

You?ll need to open an administrator mode command prompt by right-clicking on the command prompt in the start menu, and then choosing Run as Administrator. Once you?re there, type in the following command:

powercfg -h off

You should immediately notice that the Hibernate option is gone from the Shut down menu.

Do post the results (if working or not)
