can't seem to turn of numlk's. I can temporaliy but after boot up come's on again. Is there a function in thinkpad configuration that I can disable or in the bios?

Mike, I recall working on a similiar issue in regards to a Dell Latitude with NT. There is a registry entry for NT that can turn on or off the numlock right after login. check support.microsoft.com for the actual registry key. If that was not the situation, I'd next attempt to re-initialize the BIOS (Located in the BIOS menu of IBM Thinkpads) Paul
