I can no longer see the drive in the bios. How do I recover the data? I have put it in 4 different machines, it spins but it does not get reconized by the bios on any of the machines. I have critical data, any ideas?

If none of the machines will id it, it is electronically failed and the only way to get data back at this point is a data recovery company. Fairly pricy, but should be able to recover data.

This is either the circuit board, or the +5 Volt pin on the MOLEX connector.
Check the MOLEX connector. (Where the power is plugged in.) The +5 Volts is the red wire.
The junction where the +5 Volt lead is soldered to the board some times cracks or breaks.
(The logic board is +5 Volts, the drive motor is +12 Volts , yellow wire.)
If power is getting to the board, then then double check the cable by swapping again. (I assume you have already done this at least once.)
If that is not it, then it is usually change the logic board.
This is fairly expensive, because you have to find an identical drive. Then swap logic boards.
Most of our clients usually purchase a backup system after this experience.
I would suggest the same. (CD Burners are probably the cheapest solution, and Tape the most expensive, but tape has certain advantages, so it still also sells.)
Regards, Chris
