IBM RAID5 REBUILD FAILURE

by an_it_guy . Updated 19 years, 1 month ago

HI ALL,

I am facing a problem, which a lot others have faced earlier… here’s mine.. just hoping to find some solution.. seeking help/advice, thnx.

Problem:
IBM x220 eServer, P3 1.1GHz, 512MB RAM, RAID5 configured with 3×18.2GB SCSI drives, Win2K Server acting as a PDC to the domain.

While starting, the Server throws an error message stating
” Logical drive offline; 2 Online drives defunt”
I guess this means my two drives out of 3 are in trouble!!

Tried: I had a spare 18.2GB SCSI disk, tried to replace one of the faulty ones(showing stable amber light), and waited for a rebuild, which dint happen.. had left overnight to see something on screen.. with no luck!

Any suggestions?

Few other details might be helpful:
IBM Model : 86463AX
BIOS ver 1.02
IBM ServeRaid Mini config ver:4.80.26
Stripe Size=8KB
There was a single Logical drive of 36GB configured and three partitions on that.

My worry is the data on that system. Is there anyway to retreive that?

Any assistance appreciated! Thanks.
