IBM ThinkPad CRC error

CRC stands for Cyclic Redundancy Check.

What that means is a drive or media error.

You may need to enter setup on the laptop, and change the drive settings to either autodetect, or the parameters of the drive.

At a minimum, you need to bootfrom a floppy, and perhaps fdisk the drive.

If you cannot get the system to boot from the floppy, mount the drive as a slave in a desktop.
(you will need an adapter kit)

Fdisk, and format the drive as a bootable drive.
Copy your Windows CD onto the drive.

Install the drive back in the laptop, and it should boot up.
If not, then the drive is not compatable with the laptop.

I really hate disagreeing with TheChas - such an amazing resource...but i work for IBM.

0175 Bad CRC Stop POST task. The EEPROM Checksum is not correct.

This is what it says. Faulty system board. If it's under warranty, call and get it replaced.
