IBM ThinkPad R40 Locked Out?

By pablo__leal ·
Never set any type of password, maybe by mistake, but I cannot login. Actually as soon as I turn it "ON", the computer asks for a password on the top left corner of display....I guaranteed that is is not stolen, it is mine. I had only one software package on it, A Mechanic's Reference to Automotive Repair, that is it......

If you want to be able to use it again you have to take it to a Authorized IBM Service Center and get them to free the Power On Password.

Setting Passwords like this on this Model NB was a way that Disgruntled Employees used to attempt to get back at their now no longer bosses and companies.
